Preventive maintenance work discovered a failing water hydrant, which required a replacement.
The Los Lagos Vistas HOA board approved installation of a new hydrant after a required fire-hydrant inspection of four campus fire hydrants found one failing. Because of the extent of the deterioration and because the hydrant was very old, a new one was installed.
Maintenance on other hydrants included opening each for examination, turning off the water to the hydrant then recharging it by opening water flow then closing it. The process involves bleeding air from the caps and recharging hydrants. The hydrants are then lubed with safe grease, recapped, and stickered with a certification and date.
Jay Foster of Craig Pipecraft completed the work.
