Dog Poop Issues Pile Up

Don't forget to pick up after me.
Don't forget to pick up after me.

The HOA has received renewed complaints about dog owners leaving poop bags around.  It’s great dog owners clean up their pet’s droppings, but please be courteous and place bags in a dumpster. That’s the neighborly thing to do, and the best way to avoid smells and flies no one wants, not to mention limiting grossness factors.

It’s probably just a person forgetting to go back to pick up a bag. You know, the owner goes back into the unit to get shoes to walk on the hot asphalt, sees something shiny, and forgets about the poop bag. Take the bag with you.

Some people who don't like pets or animals will be quick to complain about anything canine and often blow things out of proportion. However, the HOA also has received complaints about dog owners letting their animals defecate on their patios but don’t pick it up. Not sure how people can live like that, but no one thinks your dog is so cute that they want to be assaulted by the raunchy side of pet and neighbor abuse. Act like a grown up.

Feral smells attract unwanted visitors, such as flies, fleas, and wildlife predators. Not to mention dog poop contains bacteria and parasites that can make people sick. Bacteria such as E. Coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacteria can be found in a pile of dog waste.

Not picking up dog poop may lead to other health risks, such as parasites, bacteria, and viruses that can be harmful to other animals and humans. Roundworms, hookworms, and salmonella can spread through contact with contaminated feces.

The message: Pick up after your dog and dispose of it properly.
