Watering Schedules Adjust for Winter

ree

Lawn watering has been reduced to twice daily for two minutes to prepare for winter lawn seeding.

Please don't water on your own.

Maintenance Team Leader Dave Still is transitioning schedules for seasonal changes. That means the dominate Bermuda grass will be fading out and browning out in spots before the winter rye grass blooms.

It may look like the maintenance team is not watering enough, but realize there is purpose to the plan so our turf looks great through the winter. Dave's team also will be thatching the grass to remove dead materials and create healthy soil for the new grass. Aerating will drive holes into the soil to ensure water gets to grass roots. Dave also may disperse added rye seed to support perennial seeds from last season.

In a new arrangement, the HOA is working with the city Parks Department chief, who manages Rotary Park among other city properties, to develop an action plan to optimize water conservation and water efficiency. The plan is a free service from Lake Havasu City to promote water conservation.

The HOA will continue to explore removing more grass while maintaining campus landscaping aesthetics. More information and details will be forthcoming on the developing landscape plan.
