Water Shutoff Tuesday
Circle 7 will be closed Monday and Tuesday for water repairs
The final phase to repair Circle 7’s main water line will happen Monday and Tuesday, June 8-9. Water will be shut off to the entire complex on Tuesday from about 4 a.m. to later in the day depending on when work is finished. Circle 7 will be closed both days for safety reasons.
Water shutoff is required because the final steps in the repair will involve installing a valve and connecting the new Circle 7 line to the main water-supply line under Montana Vista.
Lindsay Excavation has worked to replace the circle’s water main and all but two previously replaced service lines to each building in the circle. The work involved new materials, proper pipe
bedding, and new couplings.
The old lines and materials will be extracted and disposed of so water will flow only through the new system. Asphalt piled by the maintenance shed will be removed.
Because of the severe deterioration of existing lines, previous repair defects, and numerous leaks discovered during the initial repair work, Lindsay recommended replacing the circle’s entire main and service lines.
The complex is losing an estimated 2,400 gallons of water or more to undiscovered water leakage. Despite water conservation work to reduce water usage by 10%, water and sewer bills still represent 25% of the HOA budget.
The HOA Board will assess next steps in water-line repairs after the Circle 7 repairs are completed. Several circles are known to have frequent leaks, but water-use measurements after the Circle 7 fix will help to understand budget and repair priorities. The HOA also is exploring funding possibilities for major repairs.
