The Social Committee is pleased to share the results of our recent Community Event Survey. Your feedback is crucial to the committee and board, highlighting the importance of our social events in maintaining a vibrant community in Los Lagos Vistas. We are committed to fostering a strong neighborhood, and your participation and suggestions are key to our success. Last season, from October to early April, the Social Committee hosted 14 events: six coffee socials, five potlucks, and three paid events. We received 60 completed surveys.
High Participation and Positive Feedback
The survey results truly highlight the strong community spirit in Los Lagos Vistas. A remarkable 78% of respondents expressed that no events should be eliminated, and only 22% reported not attending community events at all. It's heartwarming to see so many of you embracing the opportunities to connect and socialize with your friends and neighbors!
Our events are not just about fun; they also play a crucial role in enhancing our community. Last year, proceeds from Social Committee events raised over $5,300, which went towards vital projects like pool rehabilitation, new patio furnishings, and concrete repairs.
Popular Events and Preferences
You told us what you love, and we're listening! The Bingo parties hosted by the Recreation Area Committee were a huge hit, with 64% of you rating them highly. Other favorites included the Christmas Food Truck event (59%), the Mexican Fiesta (57%), and both the St. Patrick's Day party and the Western BBQ (40% each). The monthly Coffee Socials at the pool also received high marks, with 57% of residents attending and 135 present for the annual buscuits and gravy with cocktails breakfast in April. It's clear that good food and great company are a winning combination.
When it comes to our paid dinner events, the $15 ticket price was widely seen as a great value. A whopping 82% found them reasonably priced or a good value, especially since they included entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, 57% of you loved the live performers and had no problem with tipping. We did note that 8% mentioned not tipping because they didn't have cash, which is valuable feedback for us to consider for future events.
Overcoming Barriers and Looking Ahead
We understand that life can be busy, and the biggest reasons for non-participation were the inability to attend (41%) and timing conflicts (28%). We'll continue to explore different scheduling options to make events as accessible as possible. While a small number of comments mentioned not knowing anyone or feeling excluded, these were very limited, and the overwhelming sentiment was positive engagement.
We're also delighted that raffles as a fundraising method received strong support, with 73% agreeing or strongly agreeing with their use for special projects.
Your insightful suggestions for future community improvements and amenities were presented to the HOA Board of Directors for discussion. This feedback is essential as we look for projects that benefit
the entire neighborhood.
This survey was initiated to ensure we are enhancing our shared living experience. The results confirm that the Social Committee is vital to building the strong, unique community of Los Lagos Vistas and sets us apart from other neighborhood associations.
On behalf of the entire Social Committee and other volunteers, we thank you for your continued support and participation.
